Welcome to the spiral staircase of the pyramid! Higher and higher you go, where there is nothing but light. Shall you fall up the stairs, or will you instead climb all the way down?
Some call me crazy for writing the things I write, especially in these passages-- for we are "too close to sacred ground," they say. The poor cadaver in the coffin you approach deserves respect. But what greater respect could one give than crafting the burial chamber as being the heart of a tomb? Especially considering the other unknown soldiers you pass by every day. And to craft a heart, that takes a bit of architecture some might perhaps describe as "eldritch" (even if eldritch it be not; there is nothing more natural than nature's blueprints for red blood cells).
No, what we're dealing with here is a sort of mirror. The coffin ahead-- at the top tip of this tomb-- has been described with many epithets. "Grandfather eyeless" is my favourite, but that's only because I see myself that way as well. See, everything you call the corpse is what you would call yourself. So. Who do you think is buried there?
